Absorption of nitrate ions

Flow bags containing a highly-specialized, selective anion exchanger in chloride form. Intended for picking up unfavourable nitrate ions in an aquarium, also in the other anions’ presence (e.g. sulphate anions). During ion exchange, nitrate ions in aquarium water are replaced with chloride ions of anion exchanger. Flow bags can be regenerated in a solution of table salt and can be reused many times.

Nitrate is the final product of the nitrogen cycle that accumulates in aquariums with fish. Nitrate present in aquarium water is much less dangerous in comparison with ammonia (NH3)and nitrite (NO2–)ย formed in the first steps of this cycle as the intermediate products. However, a nitrate concentration above 20 mg/l may lead to rapid algae growth and its further increase in concentration becomes harmful to fish. Aquafix NO3 enables to limit the nitrate content in aquarium water without the need to change the water. One flow bag removes not less than 1 g of nitrate (NO3–), which means that in an aquarium of a capacity of 50 l and with the nitrate content of 40 mg/l it will decrease the nitrate concentration to 20 mg/l.

Place Aquafix flow bag in a place where the flow of water is high (e.g. near or in a filter). Maximum use of Aquafix exchange capacity takes place from several hours to 1 โ€“ 2 days depending on the water flow rate. Check the nitrate content using the Aquatest NO3. Flow bags are intended for multiple use and the anion exchangers they contain can be regenerated many times in a solution of table salt according to the guidelines given in the directions for use.
