Measuring of manganese content

Aquatest Mn is used for fast measurement of manganese content in fresh water in the range of 0 to 1 mg/l. Simple measurement is carried out by adding the powder reagent into a sample and shaking the test tube until the reagent is dissolved. Then, three remaining liquid reagents should be dropped successively. The change of the solution colour results from the reaction between manganese ions present in the sample with the reagents. Specific information about measurement and interpretation of results can be found in the attached directions for use. Measurement results are read in mg/l.

Manganese is one of the microelements present in water. It is essential for proper growth and coloration of plants. The concentration of manganese in a typical aquarium is about 0,1 mg/l, but at the same time, the ratio of concentrations between manganese and iron should range from 1:3 to 1:5.

Regular control of the content of manganese and iron in freshwater aquariums by the aid of Aquatest Mn and Aquatest Fe is recommended.
